Race Info Date: Saturday, August 26, 2006 Start Time: 8:15 am Distance: 5km or 10km
Getting to
Bowen Island: Runners may take either the 6:00 am or 7:00 am ferry
sailing from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver. Arrive at the terminal with
time to spare. Sailing time to Bowen Island is roughly 20 minutes.
Ferry ticket sales end five minutes prior to scheduled departures. There is limited parking in Snug Cove on Bowen Island, so off-island runners are encouraged to consider parking their cars in Horseshoe Bay (allow plenty of time to find parking) and boarding the ferry on foot. Accommodations: See Bowen Island Chamber of Commerce website: www.bowenisland.org or call (604) 947 - 9024 Personal Gear: Bag check at the Library, Bowen Island Dogs: No dogs permitted in the race and spectators must keep their dogs leashed. Post-race awards ceremony: Library lawn. The Course: Both the 5K and the 10K races follow a picturesque, winding route through the woods and meadows of Crippen Park and along a portion of Mt. Gardner Road, finishing at the Deep Bay Lagoon on the outskirts of Snug Cove. This event is open to runners and walkers of all ages. Important: Run for the Ferry 2006 starts on a dock, then follows a picturesque route along rural roads, and through the woods and meadows of Crippen Park. These surfaces are uneven and potentially hazardous, and some of the event takes place on roads that will have vehicle traffic. Start/Finish: The race starts on the Snug Cove ferry dock, and finishes at the nearby causeway at Deep Bay, on the edge of Snug Cove. Post-race awards ceremony and breakfast are held on the Old General Store’s lawn, in the heart of Snug Cove. Entry Fee:
